Okay, I confess...I don't know how to use my new I-Phone very well yet. Surprised?? But I will learn!!! One thing I'm eager to try is record someone playing their instrument. I'll start with myself, playing a student's solo piece for him...as soon as I get a pianist over here to help out. I'm sure you all know how to use your smart phones or tablets. Try recording yourself playing so you can see what you're doing well and what needs improvement. Have someone come along to record your lesson to review during the week and make sure you're not missing anything. I'm looking forward to what we can do with technology to enhance learning...even if I can't figure out my I-Phone yet.
I have exciting news!!! I will now be teaching at the gorgeous, new Jansen Art Center in beautiful down town Lynden beginning the first week in May! Students will say goodbye to my lovable but occasionally disruptive four cats and two dogs and hello to the newly constructed practice rooms of the art center. I will also be adding Kindermusik classes back into my schedule, beginning with summer camps and continuing with regular classes in the fall!
If you have not checked out the Jansen Art Center yet, stop by and ask for a tour. It is filled with beautiful art work, offers classes in music, art, jewelry making, weaving, dance, and more and is absolutely amazing! This place will be filled with great music. Check it out on Thursday and Saturday nights. I'm very excited to become part of this new center for the arts. Come and find me, I'd love to show you around! By the way - you may begin violin or viola lessons at any time! Call the Jansen Art Center at 360-354-3600 and ask for lessons with Gaye Davis to reserve your time slot. Current students, you don't need to call - your lesson time remains as scheduled. Daisy and Ella will miss you and the beautiful music you make - if you miss them you are welcome to stop by! (Gabe, that means you :D) |
